Palestinians displaced from Khan Al-Sheih to Idlib appeal for UNRWA intervention

Residents of Khan Al-Sheih who have been displaced to Idlib appealed to UNRWA to urgently step in and take up its duties as regards their tragic state of affairs.

In letters emailed to AGPS, Khan Al-Sheih’s displaced community stressed the need to include their names on the lists of those who will benefit from UNRWA’s 2017 cash allowances.

As of January 15, 2017, UNRWA started the distribution of the 2017 cash aids to the Palestinians of Syria. The distribution process is set to be wrapped up on March 16, 2017.

Speaking with AGPS, a displaced Palestinian refugee launched a cry for help over the acute dearth in much-needed items and the steep rental fees, along with the chronic water and power blackouts.

Residents of Idlib province have already been grappling with dire living conditions due to the unabated onslaughts rocking local schools and hospitals, among other desperately needed facilities.

The displaced community pushed for serious endeavors to either slash rental fees or remove them altogether in an attempt to tone down the crisis in an area where survival largely hinges on donations and relief aids.

As of Monday, November 28, 2016, some 2,500 Palestinian refugees have been forcibly displaced from Khan Al-Sheih shelter in Rural Damascus to the northern Syrian province of Idlib following a reconciliation deal struck between the Syrian government and the armed opposition.
