Palestinian Refugee Mohamed Al-Umra Spotted in Syrian Penitentiary

Activists quoted newly-released detainees as stating that they had come across the Palestinian refugee Mahmoud Al-Umra, a resident of Yarmouk, in the government-run National Defense Forces center in 2015, before he was dragged to an unidentified location.

Affidavits by ex-detainees provided evidence on the incarceration of Palestinian refugees and the death of several others under torture in Syrian government lock-ups.

AGPS kept record of the internment of 1,162 Palestinian refugees in Syrian regime jails.

At the same time, most of the group’s calls to unearth the fate of the detainees have gone unheeded by the Syrian regime.
