Palestinians of Syria in Lebanon Sound Distress Signals over Precarious Legal Status

Palestinian refugees from Syria in Lebanon have launched cries for help over the precarious legal status and lack of protection they have been made to endure in the Lebanese territories.

60% of Palestinians from Syria are grappling with deportation concerns while 67% live in a perpetual concern over their families’ safety. 80% said they feel insecure due to the security mayhem rocking the region.

At the same time, the Lebanese authorities continue to rebuff appeals for renewing the residence permits of those who entered Lebanon after 2015, blacklisting them as “illegal immigrants” and ruling for their immediate deportation in no more than 15 days.

The Palestinian refugees from Syria in Lebanon called on the Palestinian embassy, political factions, PLO, and UNRWA to immediately step in and urge the Lebanese government to lift the noose around refugees’ necks, cancel visa-renewal fees, and seriously work on taking the edge off the crisis.
