UNRWA: 60% of Palestinian Refugees Displaced in War-Torn Syria

UNRWA warned that over 60 percent of Palestinian refugees have become displaced in war-torn Syria.

According to the agency, almost 280,000 are internally displaced and 43,000 are trapped in hard-to-reach or inaccessible locations. Over 95 per cent of the Palestinian refugee population in Syria are in critical need of humanitarian assistance, which comprises cash, food and non-food items.

UNRWA estimates that there are over 120,000 Palestinian refugees from Syria outside of Syria, with around 31,000 displaced to Lebanon and 16,000 to Jordan. Many Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and Jordan have been pushed into a precarious and marginalized existence due to their uncertain legal status.

UNRWA estimates that over 90 percent of the Palestinian refugee families from Jilin have fled as a result of the escalation of armed violence reported to have started on February 20

Nearly 2,000 Palestinian residents of Kahn AlSheih Camp for Palestinian refugees in Rif Dimashq were deported to the northern Syrian city of Idlib, led by the opposition outfits, following a deal with the Syrian government.
