A report issued by AGPS and the Palestinian Return Center (PRC) for the second half of 2016 cited cases of success stories achieved by Palestinian refugees from Syria overseas.
Palestinian refugee from Syria Assem Hussam AlDin Taleb won the top prize at a Karate championship in Sweden and a gold medal, the fourth of its kind, at the competition. Palestinian-Syrian child Aws Montassar Tershehani, from AlNeirab Camp, won the first prize in a regional chess championship held in Sweden.
At the same time, 26-year-old Ruba Shamout started a promising academic career in Sweden, as a pharmacy enrollee. Palestinian refugee Musab AlMawed established a provisional school to teach languages, mathematics, and IT, among other subjects, to young learners and adults in the Greek refugee camp of Katsikas.
