Thursday, April 20 marks the launch of the First Arab Book Fair in Scandinavia. The event, slated to be held in the southern Swedish city of Malmo, was organized by Palestinian and Syrian refugees, in partnership with several Arabic and European publishing houses.
Palestinian journalist Alaa AlBarghouthi, from Yarmouk Camp in Syria, said the move saw the day due to the shortage in Arabic books in Scandinavia and the attempt of the Arab-speaking community to leave a stamp of its own in the new asylum destinations.
