The Syrian government issued a decision ruling for freezing the renewal of passports and travel documents for Syrian nationals and the Palestinians of Syria.
The Syrian consulate in Turkey, Jordan, Kuwait, and Sudan also announced the suspension of passport renewal for Syrian nationals living in those states starting Monday, April 24, 2017.
Syria’s government has introduced new rules to allow Syrian refugees and citizens trapped in neighboring countries due to expired or lost passports to apply for renewals. Passport fees doubled to $400 for a new passport. Urgently-required passports would cost up to $800.
