ISIS released three civilians taking shelter in Yarmouk Camp after they kidnapped them on Tuesday on charges of carrying tobacco and transferred them to an ISIS stronghold in AlHajar AlAswad.
On July 28, 2016, an abduction sweep launched by ISIS culminated in the abduction of 50 civilians from Yarmouk Camp on allegations of smoking in public places. Those who are caught smoking are subjected to a detention term of one to five days.
Massacres perpetrated by ISIS in Yarmouk claimed the lives of several civilians. ISIS militias have grabbed hold of large parts of the camp since April 1, 2015.
