A displaced Palestinian family from Syria in AlRashidiya Camp, in the southern Lebanese city of Sur, appealed to the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Palestinian factions, among other concerned bodies in Lebanon, to urgently work on securing treatment fees, estimated at $3,500, for their eight-year-old daughter, Nivin.
Nivin has been diagnosed with hepatocellular hypertrophy and growth factor deficiency, resulting in a low cardiac output and musculoskeletal disorders. The child also suffers from neurodevelopmental defects.
Nivin had been hospitalized for seven days in Jabal Amel Hospital. The family was forced to pay all treatment fees. Sometime later, Nivin was transferred to al-Hariri governmental hospital in Beirut, where she had undergone blood transfusion.
Medics sent medical check-ups and reports to a European country to identify the causes of her severe illness. The family has been on tenterhooks in anticipation of the results.
The family added that they have been unable to secure milk made for children with growth impairments and BD needles, along with radiographs and check-ups, due their steep costs.
