Over 300 Palestinian Refugees Missing since Outburst of Syrian Warfare

At least 300 Palestinian refugees, including 38 women, have gone missing since the outburst of the Syrian warfare, AGPS found out.

According to AGPS data, over half of the missing Palestinians were residents of Yarmouk Camp, in southern Syria.

Activists held the pro-government forces in Syria responsible for the arbitrary mass abduction sweeps launched against Palestinian refugees. In several cases, a detainee is only released after his/her family is made to pay a steep ransom.

AGPS believes the number is far higher due to the gag orders slapped by the Syrian regime on the names and fates of the detainees, along with the families’ reluctance to report the names of missing relatives for fear of retaliation. Several other refugees kidnapped by AlNusra Front and ISIS have also been enduring mysterious fates.
