Displaced Palestinians in Qudsaya Denounce Steep Rental Fees

6,000 displaced Palestinian families seeking refuge in Qudsaya town, in Rural Damascus, have launched cries for help over the abject living conditions they have been made to endure in the area due to the price hike, high unemployment rates, and the decline in civilians’ purchasing power. High rental fees have added bad to worse.

A Palestinian refugee spoke out against the increase in rental fees following the retreat of the opposition battalions from the area.

“I used to pay 25,000 Syrian Liras (some $50) before the retreat of the opposition outfits. However, as soon as government troops broke into Qudsaya and lifted the blockade, the house owners notified us that they expect up to 70,000 S.L per month,” he told AGPS.
