Palestine Civil Commission Urges UNRWA to Rally Round Palestinian Students South of Damascus

The Palestine Civil Commission urged UNRWA and the Palestinian institutions to provide school furniture and equipment to Palestinian students displaced from Yarmouk Camp to the nearby towns of Yalda, Babila, and Beit Sahem.

The commission said schools face an acute classroom shortage and called on UNRWA to secure at least 600 classrooms, along with stationary and books.

The commission also called for securing fuel supplies needed to resist freezing temperatures during the winter season.

In a recent report, AGPS sounded the alarm over the tragic fallouts of the Syrian warfare on the education process of Palestinians and Syrians alike after the rate of access to education had shrunk back from 95% prior to the conflict to less than 75% in 2015.
