Palestinians from Syria in Egypt Deprived of Labor Opportunities, Visas

Palestinian refugees from Syria have been grappling with a precarious legal status in the turmoil-stricken Egyptian territories.

The Egyptian authorities continue to turn down Palestinians’ appeals for visas under the pretext that “security go-aheads” have not been issued to that end.

The situation has gone from bad to worse due to the price hike, high rates of unemployment, and security turmoil rocking the Egyptian territories.

AGPS calls on Egypt to treat the Palestinian refugees from Syria as Syrian nationals, work on registering them at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and to abide by its obligations as a signatory of the 1951 UN convention.
