Turkish press sources said that fishing boat carrying illegal immigrants sank in the Black Sea, north-west of Turkey, while attempting to reach the European transit states. 20 immigrants died.
The Turkish Coast Guard Command said in a statement the day before yesterday that its crew had rescued 40 immigrants and is still under search for 7 to 9 people in the area.
The Anadolu Agency stated that the guards set up a civilians’ hospital in “Kefken” Port, to supervise and treat the immigrants’ health conditions, as well as specializing a plane and two helicopters to help in the search and rescue operations and transport the injured to the state hospital in Kocaeli.
