On the eve of the International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian Journalists, the Action Group: We Have Documented the Death of 17 Palestinian Journalists since the Beginning of War in Syria

On the International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian Journalist, on September 26th of each year, AGPS stated that, "The group’s monitoring and documentation team, recorded the names of 17 Palestinian journalists of various academic or volunteering competencies and who have sometimes become part of developmental-relief-media work. They died in various Syrian regions during their media coverage of the ongoing events since March 2011.” AGPS confirmed that in reality, the number is much bigger than this, under the circumstances of arrest, declaration of death or difficulty in accessing official records. In addition, the consequent responsibilities on the families of the victims, most of whom died as a result of the disappearance, torture, bombardments or in clashes.

The research team in AGPS had previously released a report titled “Victims of Palestinian media work in Syria” through which it highlighted an important aspect of the suffering of an important segment of the Palestinian people in Syria; the Palestinian media segment of specialists and volunteers who have given their lives during their coverage of the Syrian events in order to present the truth and deliver the original stories with words, sound and picture.
