AGPS’s correspondent in south Damascus confirmed that the Syrian security made a decision during the “reconciliation committee” meeting in Al-Qadam, to ban the exit of Palestinian refugees from Yarmouk camp through Al-Qadam barrier in the capital Damascus.
Our correspondent quoted a member of the reconciliation committee that said: “The decision was made in the presence of the director of the Political Department of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Anwar Abdul-Hadi, to limit their exit through the checkpoint of Babilla town in south Damascus, supervised by the Palestine Branch.
The Al-Qadam Assaly barrier, supervised by the area’s branch, affiliated to the Syrian security, did not mind the passing of Palestinians, only if the reconciliation committee in Al-Qadam approved.
Our reporter covered the camp’s residents’ criticism and resentment because of the suffocating decision. Activists accused the Syrian regime of practicing a racist policy against the Palestinian refugees, where others are allowed to go out for treatment in the capital's hospitals or to enter and exit the towns of southern Damascus.
A number of diseases are spreading vigorously among children and the elderly due to the siege in Yarmouk camp and the prevention of Palestinians from leaving south Damascus.
