Member of “Al-Saiqa” Forces killed and Palestinian factions affiliated to the Syrian regime continue to recruit refugees for fighting

Sources close to the Syrian regime in Al-Sayeda Zeinab camp announced the death of “Feras Ahmed Eissa,” a resident of the camp and member of Al Saiqa Forces. He was killed while fighting alongside the Syrian regime forces, however the location of his death has not been determined.

In the same context, local sources in the Palestinian camps in Syria said that a number of Palestinian factions in several Syrian cities recruit the refugees staying in Palestinian camps and their gatherings, to fight the armed opposition groups alongside the Syrian regime forces and send groups of them away from their camps.

Meanwhile, activists stated that the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – the General Command comes on top of these factions, in addition to Fatah Movement - Al-Intifada, Al-Saiqa, Free Palestine Movement, Al-Nedal and Al-Awda battalions.

Groups of these factions are deployed on the border of the besieged Yarmouk, Khan Danon, Al-Sayeda Zeinab, Al-Husseiniyah and Jaramana camps, in addition to the camps under the Syrian regime’s control such as Al-Aedin camp in Homs, Hama and Neirab camps in Hama and Al-Raml Camp in Lattakia.

Residents of these camps have blamed many members of these factions and groups for dealing with the Syrian Intelligence and providing information about the Syrian youth as well as helping the security to arrest the wanted youth, under the pretext of their failure to perform the compulsory service, or cooperating with the opposition groups and opposing the regime.

A number of refugees spoke about the pro-regime Palestinian groups and their exploitation of the deteriorated economic situation, the lack of financial resources for Palestinian families and the spread of unemployment, amid the continuing war in Syria and the displacement of thousands of Palestinian refugees from their camps, and the persuasion of young people financially, every month.

Dozens of Palestinian refugees have died while fighting alongside the regime. AGPS has recorded the deaths of 936 refugees with gunshot wounds since the outbreak of war in Syria.
