Approximately 115 Palestinian-Syrian families living in Al-Zayzon gathering are suffering a life of extreme cruelty that lacks the most precious elements of a decent life. These families live in primitive houses built of cane and some textiles, that they don’t protect them from the cold winter or the heat of summer.
These families were displaced from their houses due to the continuous bombardments by the Syrian regime, which targeted their homes, in addition to ISIS’s control over some areas in the city, as what happened in the Jileen gathering.
In addition, a large proportion of them do not have access to the financial assistance provided by UNRWA, because they are unable to reach the distribution centers, since they are within the areas controlled by ISIS, making them fear being subjected to detention.
Regarding the relief aid which reaches Al-Zayzon gathering, it is very little compared to the number of families living there. Some of the aid is distributed through the local councils or through other organizations.
The residents called on UNRWA and all the Palestinian and international parties concerned with the Palestinian refugees in Syria, to urgently make their efforts towards the suffering of families in the gathering, asserting that UNRWA should fulfill its obligations to them as an international institution responsible for Palestinian refugees.
Al-Zayzon gathering or camp, is located in Deraa, south of the Arab Republic of Syria.
