Palestinian-Syrian detained in the Thailand prisons calls out for his release

Palestinian-Syrian refugee “Eyad Soliman,” detained in a prison in the Kingdom of Thailand, has called out for help through AGPS, appealing to the international institutions, Human Rights and civil society to rapidly interfere to release him and put an end to his tragedy.

In his message to AGPS, Soliman said that the suffering of his immigration began when he entered Thailand in 2013, in order to meet with the UNHCR and requesting an immigration to a European country through it.

He added that after his travel permit expired, he remained hidden, waiting for the UNHCR to transfer him to a European country. However, on the 9th of November, he was arrested for the expiry of his travel permit and taken to one of the prisons in Thailand.

Soliman added that after contacting the UNHCR, it said it will be unable to offer any help because the Government in Thailand does not treat the refugees as if they are feeling a war. It treats them as if they are disobeying the country’s law.

The authorities in Thailand arrested a number of Palestinian-Syrians and Syrians, for holding expired residency. It detained them in its prisons, which have been internationally ranked as one of the worst.

On its part, AGPS calls on all rights parties, Human Rights organizations, official Palestinian and Arab institutions and the authorities in Thailand, to work on releasing the Palestinian refugee “Eyad Soliman,” who is detained in Thailand and treating him according to the laws and international ethics that guarantee the rights and dignity of war refugees.
