Dozen of refugees in Greece head to the Macedonian borders

A group of about 100 refugees left Athens to the city of Thessaloniki, in a march, with the intention of reaching the Republic of Macedonia, to protest against their inability to move to the European asylum countries.

The group met in Aristotelous Square, in the center of the city, after the refugees coordinated their march through social media. One of the refugees threatened to burn himself, before a group of refugees stopped him.

The Greek newspapers quoted the refugees saying they were keen to travel to Germany and the European countries where their relatives are waiting for them.

Rumors spread on social media and among the refugees in Greece, that the country had concluded a secret deal with Germany to delay the process of reunifying the refugees who were stranded in Greece, with relatives in Germany.

It is noteworthy that hundreds of Palestinian and Syrian immigrants in Greece are facing severe suffering and long waiting periods for a decision on their asylum cases. Dozens of them are waiting to be reunited with their families in Germany.
