3175 refugees arrive in Greece during November

The activist Tommy Olsen, one of the volunteers helping the refugees in Greece, recorded the arrival of 67 boats at the Greek islands during November. He said that they carried about 3175 refugees. He also added that during October, he recorded the arrival of 112 boats, carrying 4116 refugees.

Currently, 15486 refugees are stranded on the Greek islands, which are overcrowded and do not offer enough facilities to the refugees, causing them to live in tents under the rain and extremely cold weather.

This comes amid calls made by the residents of Samos, Chios and Lesbos to hold a mass protest on the streets of Athens, demanding a solution to the overcrowding of the Greek islands and to put pressure of the Greek authorities to transfer a large number of the refugees on the islands, to the Greek mainland.

The number of Palestinian-Syrians stranded in Greece until the end of 2016 is estimated at 400 refugees, most of which are on the islands of Lesbos, Mytilini, Chios, Leros and Kos, and including women, children and elderly people. They are distributed across the refugee camps; some of them are living in tents, and others in large halls or caravans.
