Living crises suffered by the residents of Jarmana camp, in the suburbs of Damascus

The residents of Jarmana camp are living in a state of relative stability, however, they are suffering from the lack of basic services and infrastructure services. Also, the residents are suffering from crises, the most prominent being the high rents of houses and the increased demand for them. The camp is home to tens of thousands of displaced people from the neighboring towns, which has forced its residents to live in suffocating conditions.

In addition, the percentage of unemployment is increasing at a time where the aid provided by charities and UNRWA has decreased, although the residents complain that it covers only a little of their living expenses.

Jarmana camp is not directly engaged with the ongoing events in Syria because of its close location to the areas controlled by the regime in the capital. However, it witnesses mortar attacks in its region, as it is near to the Damascus International Airport Road and the eastern Ghouta area.
