Thousands of Palestinian refugees in Syria and Lebanon have gone out in protests and sit-ins, to condemn the American President, Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of the Israeli occupation. The Palestinian camps in Lebanon have seen an effective participation of the Palestinians displaced from Syria.
In south Damascus, the residents of Yarmouk refugee camp and the town of Yelda, as well as the students and teaching staff of the Jarmac Alternative School, protested against Trump’s decision and the transfer of his country’s Embassy to Jerusalem.
The protesters expressed their anger towards the action and considered it a hostile step aimed at Palestinian rights and touches the most important Palestinian constant, Jerusalem, the capital of Palestine.
The demonstrators demanded that the United States of America withdraws its decision, as well as calling upon all Arab and Islamic governments and international institutions to act urgently to put pressure on the US administration, to back down from its recent decision.
