The Turkish Coast Guards announced that they managed to rescue 68 illegal immigrants on Wednesday, who were stuck inside a rubber boat, in a rocky area off the coast of Izmir, in the west of the country.
The Turkish Coast Guard noted that they had received a notification, on the presence of a group of illegal migrants, trying to reach the Greek islands on a rubber boat. As a result of the research and monitoring operations, the teams were able to locate the boat inside the sea, pointing out that they were only able to start the rescue operations in the early hours of dawn, using boats and helicopters in the rescue operation.
The influx of Palestinian and Syrian refugees fleeing the Syrian war continues, towards Greece to reach the countries of asylum, while hundreds are waiting on the Turkish territory to ride the death boats, despite the poor weather conditions.
