“Work” and “residency” are among the main obstacles facing Palestinian-Syrians in Egypt

The remaining Palestinian-Syrian refugees in Egypt, are living under unclear legal conditions, in conjunction with the political tensions and security witnessed by the country. The Egyptian security refuses to grant the Palestinian-Syrian refugees any residency, despite the fulfillment of the official conditions for issuing such residency. According to many of the people that our correspondent met with, the excuse it usually that: “the security approvals have not yet arrived.” As a result, and in addition to the increasing prices in the country, the refugees’ suffering has aggravated.

As well as the lack of job opportunities in Egypt, which is due to the turmoil in the country and the continued deterioration of the economic situation there.

Approximately 6000 Palestinian-Syrian refugees immigrated to Egypt since the beginning of the conflict in Syria.
