The Syrian security is continuing to detain the 24-year-old, Palestinian refugee, “Obaida Elyan,” and hiding his fate. He was arrested at one of the Syrian regime’s checkpoints in the “Zahera” area in Damascus, on 31-03-2014.
Elyan lived in Yarmouk camp, in the south of Damascus, during the siege imposed by the regime’s army and he is one of the cadres of the Islamic Jihad movement in Palestine.
AGPS receives a number of messages and information about the detained Palestinians. They are then documented despite the difficulty of recording information because the Syrian regime continues to hide the fate, names and locations of the detainees. The Group has recorded the detention of 1644 Palestinian refugees in the Syrian regime prisons.
