18601 Palestinian-Syrian people in Lebanon, according to the results of the Palestinian Population and Housing Census Project

In Lebanon, the final results of the "General Population and Housing Census in the Palestinian Camps and Gatherings in Lebanon” campaign, performed by the "Lebanese-Palestinian Dialogue Committee," in coordination with the Lebanese Central Administration of Statistics and the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, have proved that the number of refugees in Lebanon is 174442 people in 2017, living in 12 camps and 156 Palestinian gatherings in the five governorates of Lebanon.

The General Population and Housing Census that the number of Palestinian refugees displaced from Syria to Lebanon is 18601 people, which is equivalent to 8487 families, of which 2202 are living in Palestinian camps, 1055 families are living in the gatherings adjacent to the camps and 1199 families are in different places in lebanon. The statistics noted that the 8487 Palestinian-Syrian families are distributed across the Palestinian camps as follows: 1523 in Ain Al-Helwa camp, 253 families in the Miye ou Miye camp, 1444 families in the Borj El-Chmali camp, 560 families in the Rashidiya camp, 412 families in the Buss camp. In the camps on Beirut, 537 families are living in the Shatila camp, 687 in the Borj El-Chmali camp, 55 families in Mar Elias refugee camp, 55 families in the Dbayeh camp. In the city of Tripoli, 1637 families are in the Beddawi camp, 1015 families are in the Nahr Al-Bared camp, while in the city of Baalbeck, the statistics showed that 626 families live in Wavel camp.

The statistical results of the "General Population and Housing Census in the Palestinian Camps and Gatherings in Lebanon” show that the Palestinian-Syrian families are distributed across the five Lebanese cities as follows: 9.1% in Beirut, 11.3% in Beqaa, 21.8% in Tripoli, 15.3% in Tyre and 7.1% in Chouf.

The number of Palestinian refugees from Syria in Lebanon, according to UNRWA’s statistics at the end of December 2016, is estimated at 31 thousand.
