Significant physical violations against the Palestinian women detainees in the Syrian prisons

The Group received a number of testimonies, which indicate that the female Palestinian refugees in the prisons of the Syrian regime, are exposed of to all forms of torture and oppression. The Group reported the testimony of a female Palestinian detainee, in which she recounts the "criminal" practices of the Syrian security members against women in general and Palestinians in particular, starting from electrocuting them, wraith-infested torture, beating with whips and iron sticks, and raping them.

The Action Group’s documented statistics indicate that there are 106 females Palestinian detainees in Syrian regime’s prisons.

The customs and traditions of some segments of Palestinian society, such as the fear of a ruined reputation or a scandal, have prevented many families from reporting the disappearance, kidnapping or abuse of their daughters, by one of the sides of conflict inside Syria, which makes the documented number approximate.
