1728 refugees transferred from the Greek Islands to its mainland since the start of 2018

The Greek Immigration Ministry said a group of 1728 refugees have been transferred from the Greek Islands to the Greek mainlands, since the beginning of this year to yesterday’s date, to reduce the conjunction on the islands.

According to the the Greek Immigration Ministry’s statements, the number of refugees on Chios Island is 7042 refugees and immigrants. Among the governmental plans, the biggest number of the will be transported and evacuated to the islands to the Greek mainland before the start of the new year, to solve the overcrowding of the islands.

The number of Palestinian-Syrians stranded on the Greek islands until the end of 2016, is estimated at 400 refugees, most of which are on the islands of; Lesbos, Mytilene, Chios, Leros and Kos.
