Palestinians activists accused UNRWA in Syria of employing dozens of people other than the Palestinian refugees, despite the fact that UNRWA is the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinians, and is directly affiliated to the United Nations.
According to several letters sent to the Action Group, the recruitment section of the UNRWA Agency in Syria and its sponsors deliberately employed those who are non-Palestinian and from well-known sects in Syria.
The letters accused the agency's officials, who have had close ties with the Syrian government before, that the heads of departments employ those loyal to the Syrian regime, and employment in this international agency is dependent on the employee's affiliation to the Syrian Baath Party.
An activist asks though his message: “Has UNRWA in Syria become an employer of the Alawites, Druze and Christians? Monitor the accepted names is employment and you will see that all of the names are from the mentioned above.”
