The General Authority for Refugees confirms its agreement with UNRWA to cancel the Agency

The General Authority for Palestinian Arab Refugees in Syria confirmed in a press release, UNRWA's response to the Authority's demands to amend its revised Palestinian refugee data update mechanism, which was applied by UNRWA lately.

According to the Authority's statement, it was agreed with UNRWA to cancel the mechanism and replace it with the oral notification provided by the refugees to UNRWA.

The General Authority for Arab Palestine Refugees in Syria had requested UNRWA, to suspend its process of updating the data of the Palestinian refugees, after it imposed conditions and requirements that were difficult and harsh for the Palestinian refugees in Syria.

UNRWA asked the refugees to bring an original contract of house ownership or lease, identification card issued by the Syrian government, valid hosting record, security approval for housing, a recent residency support and a recent telephone bill on behalf of the holder, in order to conduct an audit on the inpidual data of the Palestinian refugees benefiting from the cash assistance and living in Syria, during the first cycle of food assistance distribution for 2018.
