"Day of Resurrection" painting of Yarmouk camp in an art exhibition in Vienna

The Austrian artist "Katarina Tereside" showed a painting titled, "Day of Resurrection" in her exhibition named, “Journey to the Unknown,” which was held in the Austrian capital Vienna. The painting shows thousands of residents of the besieged Yarmouk camp in Damascus, waiting in endless queues for humanitarian assistance from UNRWA, and was shown as one of her artworks in the visual arts exhibition she held.

The painting is based on the famous 31 January 2014 photograph, of crowds of the residents of Yarmouk camp the moment a ceasefire was implemented and the securing of the movement of its besieged residents to get food supplies. The picture became well known in the worldwide media with the name, “Exodus” or “Al-Khorouj.”

The weekly "Observer" magazine had published articles under the title: "Inside the Pit of Hell… Yarmouk, the Refugee camp that Pushed the World into Shame,” noting that "the inhumanity of human beings has become a new word in the dictionary: Yarmouk.”
