Heavy air and artillery bombardments target Yarmouk camp, amid ongoing clashes

Yarmouk camp for Palestinian refugees in Damascus was subjected to heavy shelling by aircrafts and heavy artilleries, aimed at different areas.

In south Damascus, sounds of violent explosions were heard, resulting from the targeting of the Syrian regime the neighborhood of Al-Hajar Al-Aswad, neighboring to Yarmouk camp, with a number of surface-to-surface missiles ‘elephant’.

This coincided with the assertion by the media of the regime, of the expansion of the regime’s army to its points of control in Al-Hajar Al-Aswad, where its members managed to separate Yarmouk camp from Al-Hajar Al-Aswad, the day before yesterday.

Hundreds of civilian families still living in Yarmouk camp and Al-Hajar Al-Aswad, are being subjected to bombardments and a tight siege, in the absence of relief services and foodstuffs and amidst a lack of field information, as a result of the tense situation on the ground and the need for a number of activists to leave the camp and Al-Hajar Al-Aswad, fearing ISIS’s pratices and the Syrian regime’s bombardments.

In conjunction with the violent shelling, violent clashes continue between the forces of the Syrian regime and members of ISIS, in Yarmouk camp and Al-Hajar Al-Aswad since the day before yesterday.

The Syrian regime had launched a massive military campaign targeting the neighborhoods of Yarmouk camp, Al-Qadam and Al-Hajar Al-Aswad, since the 19th of April, causing great destruction to the civilian houses and the death of at least 33 Palestinian refugees.
