United Nations: The Syrian regime is preventing the entrance of assistance to Yarmouk camp

Jan Egeland, Special Adviser to the UN Special Envoy in Syria, Staffan de Mistura said that the Syrian regime is banning the entrance of any assistance into Yarmouk camp for Palestinian refugees in the capital Damascus, adding that the crisis in Syria has not ended and that it has moved to other places.

He told a press conference at the UN office in Geneva yesterday, that the United Nations appealed several times to the Syrian regime to send humanitarian aid to Yarmouk camp and Ghouta, however the regime did not provide the necessary permissions.

He pointed to the continuation of the Syrian regime’s attacks on the province of Idlib, and Yarmouk camp, and referred to the displacement of people from many areas, especially from the eastern Ghouta to Idlib, warning that that humanitarian agencies in Idlib face many difficulties.
