Abd El-Hady: The reconstruction of Yarmouk camp will be undertaken by the Syrian state in cooperation with UNRWA

The Director of the Political Department of the Palestine Liberation Organization in Syria, Anwar Abd El-Hady, told the Syrian newspaper, Al-Watan, that the reconstruction of Yarmouk camp will be undertaken by the Syrian state, in cooperation with UNRWA, indicating that there is a possibility for the PLO to invite donor countries, to make donations for the reconstruction of the camp. If this happens, it will be in coordination with the Syrian government.

On the date of the return of the residents of Yarmouk camp, Abd El-Hady said it is too early to talk about the return of the population, which will not be close, of course, because the camp needs rehabilitation and reconstruction.

80% of the population of Yarmouk camp had to leave after the bombing of the Syrian regime’s warplanes on 16-12-2012, of the Abdul Qadir Al-Husseini Mosque and the Faluja school, and the armed Syrian opposition groups’ control of the camp.
