In a press statement to one of the media outlets, Anwar Abd El-Hady, Director General of the Palestinian Political Department of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, confirmed that these ideas are being coordinated with the Syrian government, noting that in the case of a collaboration with UNRWA, as a responsible body for Palestinian refugees, together with the Syrian state and the Palestine Liberation Organization, these ideas will be adopted and a call will be made for a donor conference to make donations for the reconstruction of Palestinian camps and its neighboring Syrian areas.
Abd El-Hady noted that the idea of a "donors' conference" is currently being discussed with all parties concerned, expecting to reach appropriate scenarios, stressing that the expected costs of reconstruction of the camps require specialized technical committees, before announcing realistic figures.
The PLO had previously announced, on the tongue of “Ahmed Majdlinai,” Member of the Executive Committee of the Organization that "the Palestinian leadership attaches special importance to the consideration of convening an international conference to finance reconstruction, in partnership with related parties and specifically the Syrian Government as it is the host country.
