Renewed appeals for the exhumation of Palestinian families still under rubble in Yarmouk camp

A number of activists and residents of Yarmouk camp renewed their appeal to remove the bodies of Palestinian families who are still in the rubble of the camp, as a result of the heavy bombardment of the camp by the Syrian warplanes during its military operation in the southern region.

Eyewitnesses from the residents of Yarmouk who entered to inspect their houses, confirmed that the smell of death and bodies was emitted from under the rubble of the buildings they passed by. The entrants to the camp reported that the Palestinian Red Crescent crew were using their hands to search under the buildings without receiving any logistical support from heavy vehicles, equipment and devices, to enable them to deal with the subject in an appropriate manner.

The activists also sent a letter to the PLO, Palestinian factions and human rights organizations to intervene and communicate with the Syrian Civil Defense and Disaster Management Unit, which has the equipment needed to begin the exhumation operation at Yarmouk camp.

Members of the Syrian regime had previously prevented the Palestinian Red Crescent from reaching the Sawar Hall in order to remove some of the dead bodies under the rubble and expelled them and threatened to arrest them.
