UNRWA provides additional cash assistance to Yarmouk camp residents

The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in Syria (UNRWA) announced its provision of additional cash assistance to the families of the destroyed Yarmouk camp. The news pages concerned with the aid provided to Palestinian refugees, confirmed that the Agency would provide 30,000 Syrian pounds (approximately $ 68) to each of the families that recently left the camp.

The Agency added that UNRWA would send text messages on the mobile phones of the residents of Yarmouk camp, to inform them of the locations and dates of distribution in the upcoming days.

On their part, the residents of the camp commented on the assistance saying that it was like piles of ash in the eyes, and that such an amount would do nothing to the families whose houses were destroyed and looted by the Syrian regime. The refugees also lost millions of pounds. A number of refugees demanded that the Agency assume its responsibilities for the reconstruction of the camp and the return of the displaced to their destroyed and damaged homes.
