Media sources quoted the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that it handed over a message to the representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Lebanon, Miray Jirar, based on the request of the Minister “Jobran Basseel,” which stated Lebanon's request to UNHCR “to change its approach to the entire issue of Syrian displacement in Lebanon, starting from the improvement of the situation of many areas inside Syria, which would allow a safe and dignitious return of the displaced, which places the Commission on the task of assisting the Lebanese government to facilitate this return, based on the validity of its mandate.”
"The work of the Commission is limited to the humanitarian sector," Jirar indicated. She reviewed “the aspects of negotiations with the Syrian side to ensure that they are provided with suitable humanitarian conditions, when the conditions for their return are in accordance with UNHCR's vision.”
