The convoys of the displaced from the towns of south Damascus to the north of Syria arrived in batches and were distributed on the liberated cities in the north of Syria, including and Idlib, due to the large overcrowding in the numbers of the displaced as a result of the presence of other displaced people from the northern suburbs of Homs and the eastern Ghouta villages, that were estimated at 300 thousand displaced people within a few weeks.
The number of displaced Palestinian families from Yarmouk camp to northern Syria was estimated at 696 according to the statistics of the Kheir Umma Foundation, distributed to several camps in Idlib and Aleppo as follows: 400 families in Deir Balout camp, 50 families in Atma camp, 22 families in Bansh camp, 45 families in Jandaris camp, 109 families in Azaz and 70 families in Idlib.
The Kheir Umma Foundation pointed out that the number is not stable due to instability and the desire of many displaced people to move to Turkey, despite the high risk of crossing the border, which may cost very high sums of money or life, as happened with the refugee “Saadu Zagmout,” who was shot dead by the Turkish gendarmerie on the 15th of May 2018 as he tried to cross.
The armed Syrian opposition in south Damascus and Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham, which controlled the western areas of Yarmouk camp, left the south of Damascus after an agreement with the Syrian regime, that ordered the members of those groups to leave the region with their families, towards the Syrian north.
