Dozens of Cluster Bombs Removed from Handarat Camp in Aleppo

An engineering unit from the pro-government Liwa AlQuds battalion has begun clearing Handarat refugee camp, in Aleppo, from cluster bombs.

AGPS news correspondent said dozens of unexploded cluster bombs were amassed while dozens more were detonated away from populated areas. The remaining grenades are expected to be detonated sometime on Sunday.

Hundreds of the internationally-prohibited cluster grenades have been detected in Handarat Camp due to the heavy onslaughts launched by the Syrian and Russian fighter jets on the shelter.

Scores of Palestinian refugees were killed in offensives launched on refugee camps across war-torn Syria using such internationally-prohibited weapons as phosphorous-filled bombs and cluster grenades.
