Dozens of Residents of AlAyedeen Camp in Homs Fall Prey to Fatal Torture, Forced Disappearance

According to recent data by the Syrian government, 33 Palestinian refugees faced forced disappearance or death under torture in Syrian government lock-ups, 19 among them are residents of AlAyedeen Camp in Hama and 14 from Homs-based AlAyedeen Camp.

AGPS documented the death of 237 Palestinians from Homs city under torture in Syrian dungeons, including 212 Palestinians sheltered in AlAyedeen Camp and five in adjacent neighborhoods.

The list of victims also includes 34 Palestinians from AlAyedeen Camp in Hama.

AGPS kept record of the fatal torture of 518 Palestinians in Syrian government jails.

AGPS believes the real number to be far higher due to the government-imposed gag orders as regards the detainees’ fates and the families’ fear to reveal their relatives’ names over retaliation concerns.

Several victims of torture have had their bodies withheld by the Syrian government forces, in what activists dubbed another war crime committed by the government in war-torn Syria.
