Stranded residents of Daraa Camp refused to be forcibly deported with the opposition forces to northern Syria, saying they received pledges from the Russian side to protect them from harm.
Activists called on UNRWA, the Palestinian factions, and the concerned authorities to allow them a safe access to their homes and work on reconstructing the camp.
80% of civilian buildings in Daraa have been destroyed in the rampant warfare. The residents have been grappling with dire conditions due to the tough cordon slapped by the government forces on and around the camp. Shortages in foodstuff and water supplies have made life unbearable in the area.
