Palestinian activists said pro-government bodies ruled that Yarmouk residents are allowed to endorse proofs of property ownership until the end of September.
The activists quoted a number of families who recently entered the camp as stating that municipal authorities notified them about the time-span allotted to the residents to apply to protect their ownership rights. No official instructions were, however, issued by the Syrian government, Palestinian factions, the Palestine Liberation Organization, or the reconciliation committees to that end.
Speaking with AGPS, an eye-witness said dozens of Yarmouk residents handed over their property ownership documents to security offices at the main entrance to the camp.
70% of civilian structures and buildings in Yarmouk have been destroyed in the Syrian warfare. Scores of families lost their identity and ownership documents under the mounds of debris piled up in the rampant shelling.
