A commemoration was staged by activists in the southern Turkish city of Gaziantep to pay tribute to detainees killed in Syrian government jails.
Ex-detainees Karim AlJalili, from AlNeirab Camp in Syria, and Reyad Afjalar, a Turkish national, delivered separate speeches about their experiences in Syrian government lock-ups.
Speaking at the event, a jury drew attention to possible avenues that can be crossed in favor of the cause of torture victims.
The participants lit candles in a symbolic gesture hailing the souls of the victims of torture, whom activists compared to candles illuminating the road to freedom.
