”Amaken” Initiative Launched to Support Artists, Researchers from Syria

A so-called “AMAKEN” initiative was launched by Ettijahat Organization for Independent Culture. The new project seeks to support Syrian and Syrian-Palestinian artists, researchers, and cultural directors in the creative process by providing opportunities to work in equipped spaces so as to produce perse cultural projects through the mediums of theatre, cultural research, and graphic design.

The initiative, undertaken in partnership with Shams, Studio Koon, and Fabrika, will take place in Lebanon over a one-year period.

AMAKEN aims to provide opportunities for networking between Syrian artists and their peers by facilitating their presence in creative platforms, collaborating in artistic production, and sharing their work with a perse audience.

Ettijahat- Independent Culture is a Syrian cultural organization founded in the end of 2011. Ettijahat seeks to activate the role of independent culture in the process of cultural, political, and social change. Ettijahat tries to achieve that end by supporting artists and undertakers of cultural initiatives, enabling young researchers, working to build consensus and alliances between inpiduals and cultural institutions, promoting artistic production across a myriad of regional and international platforms, and helping Syrian communities have access to culture and arts wherever they area on earth.
