The AlShamiya Front, north of Syria, has kept the Palestinian refugee Atiyeh Mohamed Mahmoud in custody for nearly one month. His fate and location remain unidentified.
In letters emailed to AGPS, Mahmoud’s family said they have been taking refuge in Qalaat al-Madiq after they were deported from Eastern Ghouta.
Atiyeh was kidnapped by AlJabha AlShamia gunmen from a friend’s home in Afrin on July 26, 2018.
The family said their son has been subjected to enforced disappearance, holding the opposition groups north of Syria responsible for his fate.
Born in 1994 and raised in Rif Dimashq, Atiyeh was deported along with his family to northern Syria in March.
Other refugees have been held captive by opposition groups in Syria. Palestinian refugee Husam AlDeen Hasan Abdullah Hasan had been detained by Tahrir AlSham battalion for three weeks.
