Palestinians taking shelter in AlAyedeen Camp in Hama continue to rail against the manipulation of prices and local markets by crooked merchants, amid a striking apathy by the concerned authorities. Taxes imposed by the Syrian government on civilians and merchants have made the situation far worse.
Palestinian families living in the camp have been facing a deteriorating humanitarian situation as a result of the price leap, absence of stable financial resources, the sharp shortage in fuel supplies, frequent power blackouts, and the absence of humanitarian assistance.
High rates of unemployment and the security turmoil rocking the region have made the situation quite alarming.
Founded in 1950, and overseeing the Assi Valley, AlAyedeen Camp is Hama has been home to dozens of displaced Palestinian families who fled the occupied Palestinian cities of Haifa and Akka, among other Israeli-occupied villages.
