Palestinian Refugee from Syria Appeals for Urgent Treatment

A Palestinian refugee from Syria has called upon the International Red Cross Organization and Palestinian Embassy in Turkey, along with the concerned humanitarian institutions, to help him secure fees for his life-saving treatment.

Speaking with AGPS on condition of anonymity, a so-called Samir said he left Syria’s Yarmouk Camp with his family in 2018 and sought sheltered in Deir Ballout camp, in northern Syria, after the Syrian government forces recaptured Yarmouk. However, just a couple of months later, he caught pneumonia. His health has gradually deteriorated due to the absence of qualified medical staff and equipment, forcing him to seek treatment in Turkey.

Samir said he entered Kilis city after he borrowed a sum of money from his friend and headed for Osmaniyeh, where his father is taking refuge, to receive medical treatment. However, his appeals have gone unheeded and he has not been admitted to local hospitals.

Samir, also diagnosed with diabetes and spine scoliosis, said he has been unable to secure a livelihood to feed his starved family and purchase medicines.
