The Syrian government forces ruled that civilians wishing to gain access out of and into Daraa city through government checkpoints should carry water and electricity bills with them.
Daraa’s Power Directorate spread notifications for families in Daraa AlBalad, among other areas in Daraa where dozens of Palestinian refugee families have been taking shelter, to pay electricity charges accumulated over recent years in opposition-held zones.
All the way through Syria’s eight-year conflict, residents of Daraa Camp for Palestinian refugees, south of Syria, have been grappling with dire humanitarian conditions owing to the high rates of unemployment and absence of vital facilities. A chronic water blackout has made the situation worse.
